Pair of matching buckles by Alexander Ritchie, reverse marks are AR IONA and AR with Glasgow hallmark for 1921. Always nice to see a pair together! These have unusual Art Nouveau style curved edges.

Beautiful cigarette case with an Alexander Ritchie knotwork, Celtic beasts, and longship design. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1934 and maker's mark WJ&S. Possibly an outworker for Ritchie? This is a quality piece certainly up to Alexander Ritchie's high standard of workmanship. The inside of the case is gilded.

Beautiful sterling silver pocket watch case by Alexander Ritchie. Ornate knotwork and mythical animal decoration. A very fine piece. Size 4.5 x 4 x 1.5". Marks of AR and IONA, with Chester hallmark for 1911. Extremely rare.

Delightful pair of small silver-backed hair brushes, having repousse knotwork and birds patterning, with a central knotwork pattern. Very rare pair, and Ritchie's work at its best. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1938, and marked AR and IONA. Both are 5.25 x 3 x 1" in size.

Fine Iona foliate design two-part silver cloak clasp by Alexander Ritchie. An early piece hallmarked Chester 1909 and AR IONA, together with CS*FS for Shepherd and Saunders (see hallmarks section on this website), who assayed his work until Ritchie had his own registration with the Chester assay office in 1910. Length 3.25", depth 1.75".

Unusual two-piece silver buckle by Alexander Ritchie. No hallmark, marks are recessed and conjoined AR, and IONA. Total length 5cms. C.1910-1920.

Charming and seldom seen silver and vivid turquoise enamel cufflinks by Alexander Ritchie. The reverse of each link is marked AR IONA ICA and hallmarked for Birmingham 1934. These same longship cufflinks were also made in plain silver without the enamel, and the latter type is more common (if anything of Alec Ritchie can be described as common..) than the enamelled ones, which took extra time, patience and a further kiln-firing to create.

Very fine early silver belt buckle by Alex Ritchie. From the unhallmarked silver period, c.1910-1920. Two interlocking identical square sections with exceptionally detailed foliate design taken from one of the medieval stone carvings on Iona. Overall length is 10cms. Each piece stamped with recessed conjoined AR, and IONA.
