Unusual Alexander Ritchie silver brooch in the shape of a heart or Clarsach (or combination of both?). Knotwork patterning to front. Reverse markings are recessed AR and IONA. No hallmark. A very attractive and distinctive piece.



Small and unusual stering silver Alexander Ritchie 'four-leafed clover' brooch, with foliate laves derived from medieval Iona stone carvings. Reverse is stamped AR IONA along with ICA (Iona Celtic Art), and Birmingham hallmark for 1938.



Attractive Alexander Ritchie silver brooch with central longship in full sail, surrounded by two oval rings of braiding. Dimensions approx 1" x 3/4". Marked AR IONA and ICA with Birmingham hallmark for 1935.





Very attractive pierced silver brooch with interlaced foliate decoration - the design is taken from MacLean's 9th century Cross, Iona. Under the Iain MacCormick section of this website you can see MacCormick's 1950s continuation of this brooch design, where his version retained a silver background with the spaces filled with cobalt blue enamel. This delicate brooch by Alexander Ritchie is from his ICA period and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1938.



Very unusual sterling silver pierced brooch depicting MacKinnon's Griffin, from the early medieval MacKinnons carved stone cross shaft now in the Iona Museum. A fine piece of Alex Ritchie's silver work. Reverse markings of AR IONA with ICA and Birmingham hallmark for 1933.





Unusual silver Alexander Ritchie oval knotwork celtic cross design brooch with four raised bosses - the reverse has the AR 'spectacle mark' and a full hallmark for Glasgow 1931.
