Silver penannular brooch by Alexander Ritchie, diameter 5.5cms. Knotwork and birds design with unusual reverse markings. Normally early Ritchie pieces will either have a registered number or a hallmark (see under Hallmarks and Maker's marks on this site). This one has both, the hallmark is for Glasgow 1922. Possibly from the transition period when Ritchie was moving from registered numbers to hallmarks.
